Candlemas: Francis Celebrated with a Dragon

Francis celebrated the Chinese Festival of the Dragon, the Chinese New Year, on 2 February, while Catholics celebrated Candlemas, the feast of the purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary. On this occasion, he received members of the Italy-China National Federation, including a giant red dragon, and thanked the attendees who, "in the tradition of the noble Chinese people, express the wish that the New Year will be fruitful and full of good". Looking at an acrobatic dance, he wished everyone "to know how to always take risks on the path of dialogue, becoming acrobats of peace and brotherhood" - while his own pontificate has allowed the Church to sink into a quagmire of denial of dialogue, discord and conflict.
