Erdoğan Criticism Of Fethullah Gulen For Meeting Pope John Paul II But Erdoğan Meets With Pope Francis!






ope Francis was welcomed by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan who has previously criticized Fethullah Gulen for his meeting with Pope. Before the local election in March, then-Prime Minister Erdogan blamed Islamic scholar Fethullah Gulen for his meeting with Pope John Paul II in 1998. “Praise be! As you know he (Fethullah Gulen) had photos taken with the pope, hand-in-hand, arm-in-arm,” said Erdoğan about Mr. Gülen meeting with Pope. Erdogan called Gulen many times a “traitor”, “hollow preacher” and “false prophet”. Fethullah Gulen also known for his support for interreligious and intercultural dialogue around the world. Speaking at a joint press conference with Erdoğan, Pope Francis promoted interreligious solidarity. Pope, urged more interreligious dialogue to help bring peace as Fethullah Gulen does.
