A completely naked man wearing only a pair of sneakers and a backpack went streaking through Saint Peter’s Basilica Monday afternoon, until he was finally apprehended by members of the Vatican gendarmerie, or police force.
The man is reportedly an Italian citizen of Brazilian origin named Luis Carlos Cherubino.
Before being stopped, the man had time to walk all the way up the main nave of the Basilica to the main altar, under Bernini’s baldachino.
The man’s photo was posted immediately on Facebook.
