Rev. Gergő Bese, 41, the parish-priest of Dunavecce, Archdiocese of Kalocsa-Kecskemét, Hungary, has apparently attended homosexual parties and indulged in intimate relations with other men.
ValaszOnline.hu obtained video footage and text messages confirming the vice. Bese grew up in Máriabesnyő. His father died young. He worked as a German teacher, before becoming a priest in 2013.
A public figure close to the Hungarian government, he has been called the "house priest" of Viktor Orbán's Fidesz party. Bese blessed the former Carmelite monastery where Orban's office is located, the office of PestiSrácok.hu and the Fidesz’ media centre Megafon.
A family organisation close to Bese received at least 100 million forints (€250,000) in state funding.
Bese is a prolific writer, including for the pro-government portals Mandiner.hu and Vasárnap.hu. He was outspoken against homosexual propaganda and also attacked the former Catholic priest András Hodász, who is now active as a homosexual.
Archbishop Balázs Bábel, 73, of Kalocsa-Kecskemét suspended Bese on September 6. Valaszonline.hu writes that Monsignor Bábel had a good relationship with Rev. Bese, "knew nothing" about his double life and is now very upset about him.
Rev. Bese didn't respond to requests for comment. His Facebook account is no longer accessible. Orbán's social media accounts have deleted content from Rev. Bese.
On September 7, Orbán told journalists that the affairs of the Church’s clergy belong to the Church: “Although I am a Calvinist, I also trust the Catholic Church leader to resolve such situations.” Source
